6つ目の原則です。
1. The welfare, care, and use of animals should be under the supervision of a veterinarian or scientist trained and experienced in the health, welfare, proper handling, and use of the species being maintained or studied.

2. The individual or team responsible for animal welfare, care and use should be involved in the development and maintenance of all aspects of the program.
（私訳）動物の福祉、ケア、使用に責任をもつ個人あるいはチームは、活動計画の作成と運用に関与しなければならない。
（解説）「program」は、動物の管理と使用の適正化にかかる研究所の活動計画を意味します。これは階層的に構成され、親プログラムの下に、各論としての子プログラムが収まります。
3. Animal health and welfare should be continuously monitored and assessed with measures to ensure that indicators of potential suffering are promptly detected and managed.
（私訳）潜在的な苦痛を示す個体が迅速に発見、管理できるような様々な方法を用いて、常に、動物の健康と福祉を監視、評価しなければならない。
