幅がハイフンよりもひろく、もうひつとつのダッシュであるEm dashより狭い記号。
"n"という文字の幅と同じだから、こう呼ばれるとか。
一般的なキーボードでは専用のキーはありません。
しかし、文字コードを用いて挿入することができます。
Unicodeでは、2013。あるいは、Alt + 0150。
さて、どのようなことを表すために使うかというと、
- 数値の範囲を表す
- （試合などの）スコア
- 対立や結合を表す
- 複合形容詞 (compound adjectives)
１）数値、日付、時間の範囲を表す。
En dashと数値の間にスペースは入れない。

２）試合などのスコアや結果を表す。
UCLA beat USC 28–14 in the final game of the regular season.
３）対立や結合を表す。
The liberal–conservative debate.
The Los Angeles–London flight.
４）複合形容詞を表す。
ハイフンの代わりに用いる場合がある。
Hyphen: She is an award-winning novelist.
En dash: She is a National Book Award–winning novelist.
Hyphen: It was just one of many changes in this post-Clinton
era.
En dash: It was just one of many changes in this post–New Deal
era.
